ABOUT PTO

The CGES Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) serves as the vital bridge between families and schools, creating a collaborative community focused on enhancing every child's educational experience. Here's what PTOs accomplish and why your participation matters:

What PTOs Do

PTOs organize fundraising events that directly benefit students through funding field trips, new playground equipment, classroom technology, library books, and educational programs that wouldn't otherwise fit in tight school budgets. They coordinate volunteer efforts for everything from field trip chaperoning to classroom assistance, while also fostering communication between parents and teachers through regular meetings and events.

Our PTO also plans family engagement activities like science fairs, book fairs, movie nights, and cultural celebrations that build school spirit and create lasting memories for children.

Why You Should Join

Your child benefits directly. When you're involved, you gain insight into your child's daily school environment and can better support their learning at home. Children whose parents participate in school activities show increased academic performance and social confidence.

You make a real difference. PTOs operate on tight budgets and rely entirely on volunteer hours. Your contribution - whether it's helping with a fundraiser, joining a committee, or simply attending meetings - directly translates into better resources and opportunities for all students.

You build community. PTOs connect you with other families, creating a support network that extends beyond school years. These relationships often become lifelong friendships for both parents and children.

It's flexible. Most PTOs offer various ways to contribute based on your schedule and skills. Whether you can volunteer weekly or just attend occasional events, every level of participation helps.

Your elementary school years pass quickly, but the foundation you help build through PTO involvement creates lasting benefits for your child and future students. Consider attending the next PTO meeting - you might be surprised by how welcoming and organized these groups are, and how much you can accomplish together.
